My work involves a walking meditation as represented in the landscape. I find a sense of peace, calm and quiet when I walk through the woods. I am comfortable in the woods because in my childhood I spent time in the woods playing with my siblings. These characteristics of my walks lead to a meditative state in which I generate ideas, and make plans, and resolve problems. These scenes are painted in a monochromatic palette to activate memories of playing in the woods with my siblings during childhood. The past is tied to my present daily walks in the woods, creating a sense of place that allows for a comfort level conducive to the meditative walk.
